Pam French is a Bay of Plenty artist who brings landscapes to life with a sense of quiet depth and emotional clarity. Her work is rooted in connection - to place, to memory, to the stories people carry with them. What began as a quiet hobby has grown into a body of work that reflects years of exploration, observation, and a deep love of the natural world.

A lifelong lover of the outdoors, Pam spends her days seeing, watching, breathing nature - walking, running, hiking, fishing, and simply being present in the landscapes that inspire her. Born and raised in Hamilton, she lived overseas before settling with her family in Auckland and eventually Tauranga, where she has made her home for many years. She is self‑taught, continually refining her craft through practice, observation, and visits to learn from leading artist Wayne Vickers. In 2022, she was a finalist in the Bay of Plenty Garden and Art Festival.

Pam’s paintings often begin with a moment: a familiar track, a coastline that feels like home, a view that holds meaning long after life has moved on. She has a gift for capturing the atmosphere of a place - the light, the stillness, the feeling beneath the surface - and translating it into art that resonates.

Her practice is thoughtful, approachable, and grounded in genuine curiosity. Whether she’s working on personal pieces or creating commissioned artworks, Pam’s focus is always the same: to honour the landscapes that shape us and to create something beautiful, intentional, and lasting.
