A Bay of Plenty lover of all things outdoors, Pam spends time seeing, watching, breathing nature and participating through all the senses daily on walks, runs, hikes, fishing and simply being…...
A finalist in the Bay of Plenty Garden and Art Festival 2022 Pam is self-taught but gains a great deal of inspiration from visits to learn from leading artist Wayne Vickers.
Born and raised in Hamilton, Pam and husband Daryl lived overseas for three years before raising a family in Auckland and Tauranga. Tauranga has been home now for a number of years with Lake Tarawera (within the Rotorua Lakes area) being her happy place.
Painter’s Statement
I paint to capture the quiet presence of water - its movement, its stillness, and the way it holds light. Living in the Bay of Plenty, I’m surrounded by coastal rhythms that shape how I see and feel. My oil on canvas work often begins with a walk: noticing the way tide meets land, how shadows stretch across estuaries, or how a single blue can shift with the weather. These moments become layers - sometimes botanical, sometimes abstract, always rooted in place. I’m drawn to the subtle, the half-seen, and the emotional pull of natural forms. Painting is how I listen.
